Samsung Mobile Review - Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6

 Pros

  • Larger and more symmetrical front screen
  • Improved design with less crease
  • The inner screen is among the best on a foldable phone
  • Better ultrawide camera
  • 7 years of software upgrades

 Cons

  • $100 more expensive than the Galaxy Z Fold 5
  • No major improvements to charging speeds or battery life
  • Most new software features aren't specific to the foldable design

With the Galaxy Z Fold 6, Samsung has finally succeeded in creating a foldable device that seamlessly replicates the traditional phone experience while also serving as a sleek tablet. Five years after the original Galaxy Fold's debut, this book-shaped gadget has become lighter, slimmer, more durable, and more intuitive to use as a phone—a seemingly minor but essential enhancement.

The Galaxy Z Fold 6's new design, inspired by the Galaxy S24 Ultra, is its most notable upgrade. Samsung has also added AI-powered software features, an improved ultrawide camera sensor for better low-light photos, and a new processor matching the one in the Galaxy S24 series.

However, these upgrades come at a steep price of $1,900, making it $100 more expensive than last year’s model. This increase underscores the Galaxy Z Fold's status as a luxury device. While the Z Fold 6's sleek build represents progress, the price hike feels like a step backward, especially since previous significant updates, like a new hinge and lighter design, didn't come with a price increase.

Despite these concerns, I've enjoyed using the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and understand why it’s difficult to return to a regular phone after experiencing it. Still, Samsung hasn’t addressed my two main desires for tablet-style foldable phones: more affordable prices and innovative software that better utilizes dual screens. Instead, the Galaxy Z Fold 6 seems focused on catching up with regular phones in design and camera quality, marking a modest step forward rather than a major leap.
